February 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and US President Donald Trump\u2019s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, have met on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), the Belarusian opposition leader\u2019s top aide Franak Via\u010dorka told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, Cichano\u016dskaja mentioned the \u201csuccessful release of three hostages\u201d from a Belarusian prison and thanked the Trump administration for \u201csupport and coordination\u201d in that matter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also discussed the possibility of appointing a special envoy on Belarus and the importance of raising the Belarusian issue at peace talks on Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI explained to the general that a predictable Belarus without a Russian military presence is necessary for sustainable peace. We agreed to continue communication,\u201d Cichano\u016dskaja said after the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kellogg, a former national security adviser and retired lieutenant general, was appointed the special envoy for Ukraine and Russia on January 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MSC brands itself as \u201cthe world\u2019s leading forum for debating international security policy.\u201d Cichano\u016dskaja has participated in these conferences for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
