February 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian government has added 21 names to its list of people involved in \u201cextremism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u017amitry Bie\u0142anovi\u010d was sentenced to prison for allegedly insulting the head of state and an official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Kurys was convicted of inciting hatred, discrediting Belarus and insulting state symbols and the head of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lilija Ka\u015bcieni\u010d was convicted of insulting a judge, an official and the head of state. She was also found guilty of libeling Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Siarhiej Skibinski was imprisoned for allegedly supporting extremism and disturbing public order, the latter charge might be brought in connection with his role in the 2020 postelection protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maryna My\u0161ko was sentenced to prison on charges of disturbing public order, inciting hatred and libeling \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights defenders consider their persecution politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other additions were also sentenced on charges typical of political cases. Some are serving their sentences, other names are marked \u201ccriminal record not expunged.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The list on the interior ministry\u2019s website contains 4,969 entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
