{"id":127332,"date":"2025-02-21T22:24:36","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T19:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/127332\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"poland-dismantles-identity-fraud-ring-involving-belarusian-nationals","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/127332\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland dismantles identity fraud ring involving Belarusian nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>February 21, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Poland has dismantled an organized crime group forging documents as a result of an investigation in 2020\u20132024, the Polish Border Guard reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group, which included Belarusian and Ukrainian nationals, offered all kinds of counterfeit official Polish and foreign documents: passports, identity cards, visas, residence cards, driver\u2019s licenses, medical certificates, employment contracts and registration certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators have identified 42 suspects, both members and customers of the group. Officers arrested eight people and seized more than 12,000 counterfeit documents, supposedly issued by European bodies, and $250,000 in cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation established that recipients of counterfeit documents paid \u20ac1,500 per ID on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investigators discovered two illegal printing houses in Katowice, arresting seven people there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The detainees have been charged with association with an organized crime group, money laundering, obstructing an investigation and concealing traces of criminal activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Polish law-enforcement officers detained 16,437 foreigners last year, 857 fewer than in 2023. Ukrainians led by a wide margin (9,573), followed by Georgians (1,780) and Belarusians (1,122).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, most common charges against Belarusians in Poland are drunk driving (178), followed by thefts (130) and bribes (59).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/125886\/\">More Belarusians arrested for offenses in Poland<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 21, Pozirk.
