February 24, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The European Union\u2019s new sanctions indicate that Belarus is becoming the Russian military machine\u2019s extension because of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, exiled Belarusian opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka has said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His remarks follow the adoption of the 16th package of sanctions, which targets the Minsk-based Intehra\u0142 microchip factory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU plans to \u201cblock the circumvention of sanctions and stop feeding the dictators\u2019 military economy,\u201d \u0141atu\u0161ka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that \u201cdespite tough measures, Europe continues to support the civil society of Belarus, showing that the country\u2019s future should not depend on the Kremlin and its puppets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll restrictions will remain in force and will only increase until democratic changes occur in Belarus,\u201d \u0141atu\u0161ka said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU said that Intehra\u0142 supplies chips to Russian entities participating in the aggressive war against Ukraine and that its products \u201chave been found in the battlefield.\u201d \u201cSuch purchase orders are large and account for the vast majority of the company\u2019s exports,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 24, 2022, the Russian troops that were in Belarus for the Allied Resolve-2022 exercise invaded Ukraine instead of going back to their bases. Minsk allowed Russian troops to use Belarus as a staging ground for the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
