February 27, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian military analyst Andrej Parotnika\u016d has been sentenced to 10 years in a medium-security penal colony, the Telegram channel Strana Dlya Zhizni reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former police officer, political scientist and head of the Belarus Security Blog faced five criminal charges, including high treason. Human rights groups declared him a political prisoner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2023, media reported that Parotnika\u016d was arrested in Russia and extradited to Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He agreed to cooperate with investigators, reports said. State propaganda portrayed him as an asset of the Polish secret services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expert went on trial in October 2024 at the Minsk Regional Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear his appeal against the sentence on March 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2022, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka stripped Parotnika\u016d of his rank of reserve police captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
