March 4, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has instructed the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to search for rare earths, his press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They say that we have rare-earth minerals in our dumps. We need to explore the rest: chemicals, oil, gas, and so on. I set this task for the relevant minister,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that while US President Donald Trump is talking about rare earths, geological exploration in Belarus is not sufficiently developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You have not thought about it yet. There are not many of them in the ground. Maybe we have as many as others?” he asked officials in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 28, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky planned to sign a pact that would give the United States access to Ukraine’s mineral resources in exchange for investments and peace efforts. However, their disagreements resulted in a heated exchange in front of the media, and the Ukrainian president had to leave without the deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in February, Russia expressed its willingness to cooperate with the US in rare earth metals mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
