March 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Officers stopped more than 450 attempts to illegally import animal feed from Russia to the Homiel region in 2024, Belarus’ State Customs Committee reported. In all cases, the feed did not have a veterinary certificate or a quality certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the year, Belarusians seized more than 8,000 tons of this feed, worth over 8 million rubels (some $2.4 million at the current exchange rate).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SCC also reported cases of “goods from a sanctioned category” being transported to Russia. “Their import to this country without proper accompanying documents is prohibited,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, officials documented 28 such cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Most often, it’s about vegetables and fruits. About 700 tons of fruit and vegetable products with a total value of more than 5 million rubels have been identified [over years],” the SCC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It added that in 2025, more than 14 tons of chilled salmon worth over 650,000 rubels were stopped on their way to Russia. “An administrative probe into this case is underway,” the agency said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, Rosselkhoznadzor officers did not allow a batch of salmon weighing about 400 kilograms to enter Russia from Belarus. According to the Russian veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog, the carrier was unable to present papers confirming the safety and origin of the fish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
