March 7, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The future strategy of a safe Europe should include the support of the Belarusian society that is committed to democracy and opposes war, opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka told Gerard Keown, political director in Ireland’s foreign ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka, who serves as the opposition transition cabinet’s deputy head, asked for assistance to Belarusian media, NGOs, civil society and human rights initiatives, the cabinet’s press office reported yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician also discussed possible new sanctions on Minsk and ways to hold Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and his officials accountable for their support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, alleged forced transfers of Ukrainian children to Belarus for indoctrination and human rights abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIreland has realistic assessment of the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime, which is allied with Russia in its aggression against Ukraine,” \u0141atu\u0161ka noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja was awarded the Tipperary International Peace Award in Ireland. The politician dedicated the prize to \u201cmillions of freedom-loving Belarusians\u201d and said that Belarus and Ireland shared \u201cthe thirst for freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
