March 8, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ivan Ejsmant, in charge of the state-run Belarusian TV and Radio Company, made insulting remarks about the European Union’s leaders in a late-night show broadcast by Belarus 1<\/em> TV channel yesterday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEurope is big, of course, a tough nut to crack. At different times, especially after 2020, they provoked some anger. . . [by] their policies and their politicians, sometimes outrage,\u201d he said, claiming the European leaders were “liars.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ejsmant described Kaja Kallas, the EU foreign policy chief, France\u2019s Emmanuel Macron and Lithuania\u2019s Gitanas Naus\u0117da as \u201cpathetic swindlers,\u201d contrasting them to \u201cpeople who seem reasonable\u201d from the new US administration led by Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TV chief referred to the governments of Belarus’ western neighbors as \u201clittle dogs that bark the loudest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ejsmant is sanctioned by Canada, the EU, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. His wife, Natalla Ejsmant, serves as Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s spokeswoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
