March 10, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/strong>.<\/em> The appointment of Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka as the new head of the National Bank of Belarus is a “very alarming signal for those who work in the financial sector,\u201d economic expert Jaras\u0142a\u016d Raman\u010duk has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former prime minister lacks appropriate training and may cause turmoil in Belarus’ economy, he warned, noting that Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka’s closeness to the military and Russia may negatively affect Belarus’ finances, banking and currency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expert linked Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka’s appointment to his loyalty to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, contrasting it with the professionalism of the central bank’s previous head and career banker Pavie\u0142 Ka\u0142aur, who gathered \u201can excellent team of specialists who fought hard against the industrial-agrarian lobby.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u0142aur had served as the central bank\u2019s head since late 2014. Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka replaced him with Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka today, noting that he and new Prime Minister Alakasandar Tur\u010dyn should \u201cfinally resolve some issues . . . in the economy regarding finances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
