March 14<\/strong>, Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Belarusian holders of Lithuanian residence permits who visit their home country at least once every three months without a serious reason should be deprived of the right to live in Lithuania, said MP Laurynas Kas\u010di\u016bnas in charge of Lithuania’s Homeland Union \u2013 Lithuanian Christian Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The right-wing politician and his supporters from the opposition intend to register the proposal at the Seimas, Delfi<\/em> reported. Kas\u010di\u016bnas criticized the <\/em>current foreign ministry\u2019s bill on restrictions affecting Russian and Belarusian nationals and argued for tightening restrictions targeting Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, Vilnius halted applications for national and Schengen visas from Belarusians and Russians, subjecting those arriving from outside the European Union for additional checks for threats at the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the Lithuanian foreign ministry proposed extending restrictions for Belarusians and Russians until May 2, 2026 amid ongoing Russia’s war on Ukraine in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
