March 14, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> MEPs signed 846 postcards during an action of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners in the European Parliament on March 10\u201313, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports, noting this was a record number for such campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 12, the press office of Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja reported that the campaign’s goal was “to remind that 1,300 political prisoners in the country are not isolated\u2014they are known, they are being fought for, and their release remains a priority for the international community.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja and MEPs from different political groups were the first joiners of the campaign initiated by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola. Half a thousand MEPs joined it as of Wednesday, the office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the third such action. The previous ones occurred in December 2022 and March 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
