However, calculated as the US dollar equivalent, spending rose by 60 percent from 2.3$ billion on January 1, 2019, to $3.8 billion on January 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctors are paid a \u201ctotally decent salary\u201d averaging out at 2,189 rubels (some $703), he said. However, this amount is considerably lower than doctors&#8217; salaries in Poland, Lithuania and Germany, according to the BEROC think tank, which warned that the widening pay gap prompts doctors to leave Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, the government tried to tackle this problem and approved a rise in bonuses paid in addition to doctors\u2019 and nurses\u2019 salaries amid persisting staff shortages.
