{"id":130481,"date":"2025-03-18T14:36:51","date_gmt":"2025-03-18T11:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/130481\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"belarusian-russian-officials-discuss-preparations-for-zapad-2025-exercise","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/130481\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarusian, Russian officials discuss preparations for Zapad-2025 exercise"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>March 18, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian and Russian defense officials have discussed preparations for the upcoming Zapad-2025 joint exercise at the meeting of the advisory group dealing with arms control, the Belarusian defense ministry reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials focused on transparency and invitations for international observers, said Valeryj Ravienka of the defense ministry\u2019s international department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussions also revolved around Ukraine and postconflict verification, he added. &#8220;We have found constructive approaches to joint activities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,\u201d he noted, without giving further details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting participants also discussed the implementation of the Vienna Document that provides for the exchange of information on armed forces, weapons and defense planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have aligned our positions and reconciled our views,&#8221; Ravienka said. &#8220;Among other things, we brought the issues of regional confidence-building and security measures to the attention of our neighbors: Poland, Lithuania and Latvia.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Ravienka alluded to Poland\u2019s mistrust for Belarus, citing the opening of a NATO missile defense base and the expansion of Polish armed forces. However, Minsk is ready for \u201cnegotiation processes,\u201d visits to military units, information exchange and reciprocal inspections both in Belarus and Poland up to 80 kilometers deep from the shared border, he reiterated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the Belarusian defense ministry said it notified all participating states of the Vienna Document of Zapad-2025 scheduled for September and involving some 13,000 troops from Belarus and Russia.
