March 18, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Polish Border Guard’s Podlaskie Department reported “almost 180” irregular border crossing attempts from Belarus yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attempts were recorded in the area of \u200b\u200bsix border posts. Migrants also tried to cross border rivers by boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the patrol area of \u200b\u200bthe Czeremcha and Mielnik posts, those who had failed to cross our border attacked the Polish services with stones. A border service vehicle was damaged,” the report reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the border guards, on the same day “three foreigners in need of medical care were helped.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the migrants stopped were nationals of Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and Somalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aforementioned statistics are a record since Poland established a no-go zone on its border with Belarus in June 2024. The last surge in irregular migration was recorded on March 14, 2024, when 114 attempts were prevented. The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and EU countries has been ongoing since the spring of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
