March 22, Pozirk<\/em>. The cattle<\/strong> population in Belarus dropped by 4.5 percent from 4.3 million in early 2020 to 4.1 million at the start of 2025, according to Pozirk<\/em>‘s analysis of the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of pigs plunged by 23 percent, from 2.9 million to 2.2 million and horses, by 45 percent, from 33,000 to 18,100. Other livestock groups also declined, with drops ranging from 3 to 16 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only the population of goats at state-run farms grew in this period significantly, from 600 to 2,300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Private farms have posted growth in four groups since 2020: cattle (an increase of almost 28 percent), cows (48 percent), sheep (3.2 percent) and horses (11 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Households involved in farming activities posted a slight increase only in the number of bee families, from 120,000 to 123,100. \u00a0Over the past five years, the number of such households in rural areas dropped by 4.7 percent to 922,100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
