Authorities accuse him of calling for sanctions allegedly harming the national security of Belarus. His wife was also briefly detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kucharonak had been working at Naftan for 14 years and was one of the first employees who went on strike after the disputed 2020 presidential election and police violence that followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brycikava, also a long-time Naftan employee, is charged with public calls to seize the state power, commit treason and introduce sanctions against Belarus. She was the head of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union&#8217;s cell at the oil refinery and had served several jail terms between 2020 and 2022.
