March 31, <\/strong>Pozirk. <\/strong>The Bysol Solidarity Foundation has evacuated 29 people from Belarus since January 1, the foundation’s co-founder Andrej Stry\u017eak told the Obychnoye Utro<\/em> show on Youtube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today’s scope of work is practically one person in three days,” he said. “Many people contact us now because persecution continues unabated inside the country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evacuation expenses have been financed through donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Since the year’s start, 6,400 people have donated a total of \u20ac210,000, up 7 percent from the same period in 2024,” Stry\u017eak said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said he sees no sign of repression easing. “The authorities are trying to conceal information about politically motivated trials to put a good face on things. They say, everything has calmed down, there is no repression, let the West remove sanctions and start speaking with us,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He admitted that the documented 1,200 political prisoners currently serving their sentences is a reduction to the 2021 level, but added that activists are simply unable to document all instances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As scary as it may sound, many are simply afraid to tell human rights defenders about their politically motivated imprisonment, seeking a chance of serving their sentences normally, without yellow labels [that political prisoners wear] on their uniforms,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The essence of the regime has not changed. It remains oppressive and wants to control everything,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
