April 1, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Andrej Kra\u016d\u010danka, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces in charge of the territorial defense, will be in charge of an exercise for officials on April 2 and 3, focusing on the formation of territorial troops, the defense ministry’s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will bring together Minsk regional and district, military enlistment office and other officials for training in collecting and analyzing information, making decisions and assessments and drafting orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the defense ministry reported field exercises involving territorial troops in the Viciebsk region\u2019s Pastavy district and the Hrodna region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Territorial troops, an auxiliary part of the Armed Forces, are formed in times of war or military-political tension of reservists with military training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, Defense Minister Viktar Chrenin announced that territorial defense \u201cis being transformed from a support system into a full-fledged combat one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is regularly conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
