April 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Polish government has announced amendments to legislation governing the issue of a Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka), citing abuse linked to submission of forged documents proving applicants\u2019 Polish origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The major changes include stricter criteria for applicants and a focus on a good command of the Polish language and familiarity with the Polish culture rather than documented activity in Polish public organizations, says <\/a>the government\u2019s strategy for cooperation with the Polish communities abroad for 2025-2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document also provides for an assessment of existing support to the holders of the Pole’s Card residing in Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few years, the Pole’s Card has facilitated legal migration to Poland. The card confirms belonging to the Polish nation and gives its holders the right to study, work and do business in Poland. The program remains popular among Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski mentioned plans to tighten regulations for the card\u2019s issue last year. The official stressed security reasons for the amendments to ensure that the card does not become a loophole in migration procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
