{"id":132993,"date":"2025-04-04T21:29:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T18:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/132993\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"number-of-people-deprived-of-parental-rights-has-risen-by-almost-30-percent-in-three-years","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/132993\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of people deprived of parental rights has risen by almost 30 percent in three years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>April 4, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus deprived 3,155 people of parental rights in 2024, 28.7 percent more than in 2021, according to <em>Pozirk<\/em>&#8216;s analysis of data from the National Statistical Committee (Bie\u0142stat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bie\u0142stat observed the sharpest increase among parents over 41 (up 46.8 percent to 1,054 people) and between 18 and 24 years old (up 46.3 percent to 139 people).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of children whose parents had their parental rights terminated increased by 32.7 percent to 3,955 over this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking away parental rights is a way to put pressure on women persecuted for political reasons, human rights activists say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December 2024, a Minsk court sentenced a local resident\u00a0to one and a half years of restricted freedom, a type of home confinement.
