April 10, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Committee for State Security (KGB) declared five projects and civic groups to be extremist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, they blacklisted Palitviazynka<\/em>, the human rights initiative supporting female political prisoners (Ja\u016dhienija \u015aciepu\u015b (Do\u016dhaja) and Anastasija Zacharevi\u010d were named as its members).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also banned the Buro Media<\/em> investigative project (Alaksandar Jara\u0161evi\u010d, Volha Alchimienka, Alaksiej Karpieka and Ksienija Via\u017aniko\u016dcava), the Chry\u015bcijanskaja Vizija<\/em> media project monitoring reprisals against Christians (Natalla Vasilevi\u010d, Natalla Harkovi\u010d and D\u017amitry Karniajenka), members of the Mahilo\u016dcy abroad<\/em> Telegram chat (Nadzieja Sa\u0142a\u016djova, D\u017amitry Sa\u0142a\u016djo\u016d and U\u0142adzimir \u0141apcevi\u010d) and the che vashche proiskhodit<\/em> page on X (Julija Ka\u015bciu\u010denka).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, according to the KGB, thirteen people were added to the “terrorism list.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They include Mika\u0142aj Chi\u0142o, the jailed EU staffer in Belarus, as well as Kiry\u0142 Vieviel, U\u0142adzimir \u0160pak, Andrej Uruble\u016dski, Volha Hubar and Ihar Sima\u0161kovi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The others are Alaksiej \u0160pako\u016dski, Karyna Malino\u016dskaja, Pavie\u0142 Kazinca\u016d, Alaksandar Darahakupiec, Raman Jakimionak, Alena Jelkina and Lilija Ka\u010dan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights defenders designated all of them as political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian interior ministry put more than 1,200 Belarusian natives on the wanted list over five months at the request of Belarusian officials, Mediazona <\/em>reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro-Russian activist Volha Bondarava was released after serving a 13-day jail sentence, blogger Andrej Pavuk reported. The woman had been arrested for allegedly spreading or storing extremist content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, authorities auctioned off the house of Valery Capka\u0142a, a former presidential hopeful. Previously, three attempts to sell it ended in failure. According to e-auction.by<\/em>, the transaction amount was 1.2 million rubels (about $365,700).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court\u2019s electronic schedule of trials and the database of court rulings remain inaccessible. Human rights groups relied on these databases to track politically motivated cases. A maintenance page has been displayed at the URL address of the Supreme Court\u2019s schedule of trials across the country for a month already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of April 10, human rights defenders identified at least 1,200 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented. Belarusian authorities have arrested about 65,000 people for political reasons in the four years since the August 2020 presidential election, Viasna reported eight months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
