April 13, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d is visiting Ethiopia, the ministry’s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He started the talks by meeting with Foreign Minister Gedion Timotheos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus was on practical steps to strengthen their partnership, trade and economic cooperation with an emphasis on industry, and joint innovative projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministers are yet to discuss the global and regional agenda and cooperation in international organizations. The dates of the visit are not specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk and Addis Ababa established diplomatic relations in 1994. An ambassador to Kenya represents Belarus in Ethiopia as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the foreign office, mutual trade in 2021 amounted to $1.3 million. The Belarusian foreign ministry has not published more relevant data on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulating Taye Atske Selassie on his election as Ethiopian president in October last year, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka invited to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethiopia is a parliamentary republic; the president performs mainly representative functions in its public administration system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
