April 17, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Businesses and companies would be able to use the digital rubel by the second half of 2026, Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka, appointed as central bank’s head last month, has told the state-run Belarus 1 <\/em>TV channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Bank of Belarus plans to make digital currency accessible to government agencies and individuals by 2027, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move would enable the government to trace the use of digital currency and benefit from it in cross-border settlements, the official said, noting that Minsk is working very closely with Moscow, which is also planning to launch its digital currency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus has reached a 61-percent share of wireless payments, significantly higher than five years ago, Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the central bank promoted digital currency as a useful tool for businesses and financial institutions to enter the market, expand business opportunities, reduce the need for intraday liquidity and lower the cost of cross-border payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
