April 18, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Politically-motivated persecution documented in Belarus on April 16 and 17 included several extremist content designations, which now cover tsikhanouskaya.org<\/em>, the website by Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information ministry also blacklisted vilnabilarus.org.ua <\/em>and kanstytucyja.online<\/em> as well as 11 Telegram channels including online communities by Belarusians in the Netherlands, Finland, Poland’s Zielona G\u00f3ra and Krak\u00f3w, United States’ Illinois, Portugal’s Lisbon, Spain’s Valencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other blacklisted content includes kalinouskipolk<\/em>, bel_warriors_support<\/em>, 1863_tattoo<\/em>, pisarenko_jr<\/em>, ZYVI <\/em>and Peretrem s Chalezinym<\/em> on Instagram; Lizaveta Vodzina<\/em>, belaruscentr<\/em>, slava_ukraine_warrior_ua<\/em>, stoppropagandaruzza<\/em>, volnaya.belarus<\/em>, kalinouskipolk<\/em>, radiounet<\/em>, Belarusians in Rome<\/em> and several others on TikTok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, the interior ministry declared the followers of Roman Catholic priest Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Barok an extremist group. Barok is the pastor of Belarusians in Warsaw. He fled Belarus in 2021 because of reprisals. The ministry targeted his followers on YouTube, Facebook and Telegram, as well as those who correspond with him by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 21-year-old Ivacevi\u010dy resident has been charged with supporting Nazism for justifying WWII atrocities in the village of Chaty\u0144, the Investigative Committee said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish national Robert Tampala was ordered to leave Belarus after his release from prison, where he had served a three-year term over online comments that were considered as insults of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Belarusian officials, dissidentby reported. The man, who has been living in Belarus since the 1990s and had his family here, was also banned from entering the country for eight years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian human rights organizations designated nine more people as political prisoners, the Viasna Human Rights Center said two days ago. Their charges ranged from insulting \u0141uka\u0161enka and threatening violence against an interior officer to extremism and incitement to hatred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of April 18, human rights defenders identified at least 1,199 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
