April 18, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The ChestnOK project of sports journalist and blogger Alaksandar Ivulin, a former prisoner, as well as the Va\u015bminoh education initiative\u00a0have been declared “extremist groups” by the interior ministry and the Committee for State Security (KGB), according to the updated extremism register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry identified Jaras\u0142a\u016d Pisarenka as a man involved in Ivulin’s project, which includes a Telegram channel, a Telegram bot and a chat, as well as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KGB banned Va\u015bminoh’s Telegram group and websites, as well as YouTube, Instagram and Facebook pages. It named Alaksiej Kanstancina\u016d as an associate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivulin was arrested in Minsk on June 3, 2021. After spending 30 days in jail, he was charged with violent disorder. In January 2022, the journalist was sentenced to two years in prison. He served his sentence at Damanava’s Penal Colony No. 22 and fled Belarus upon his release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Va\u015bminoh educational platform mainly conducts interactive courses in Belarusian on various subjects of the school curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights activists accuse the Belarusian government of abusing anti-extremist laws to stifle dissent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
