April 21, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Committee for State Security (KGB) has added eight more people to the list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities,” including five former police officers from the Minsk region’s \u017dodzina, according to the updated document published on its Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u017amitryj Udovin, Andrej Daro\u0161ka, Via\u010das\u0142a\u016d Ilji\u010d, Ihar Ki\u015blak and Vital Parecki spoke out against police violence in August 2020 in an appeal to their colleagues. Earlier this year, they had been found guilty on charges of calling for sanctions and inciting hatred and branded as extremists. Rights groups consider their persecution to be politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The additions also feature Siarhiej Har\u0142o\u016d, Siarhiej Zielano\u016dski and Viktar Kuchar\u010duk convicted of calling for sanctions, inciting hatred or insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sentences in all cases remain unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KGB\u2019s terrorist register lists 1,276 names, including at least 588 Belarusian nationals. Prisoners declared terrorists are prohibited from receiving money transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rights activists blame the Belarusian authorities for abusing anti-extremist and anti-terrorist laws to stifle dissent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
