April 22, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Officers in Poland have crushed an organized crime group involved in the illegal production of cigarettes, the country’s Border Guard reported today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eleven people were arrested, including three Belarusian nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carpathian Border Guard Department carried out the operation jointly with the Central Investigation Bureau of Police under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gliwice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At an estate in Mi\u0144sk County, the officers discovered a fully equipped, professional cigarette production line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At another site in the same area, a packaging workshop was found. Tobacco products were packaged in boxes marked with the logos of well-known brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the law enforcers found a large warehouse storing illegal tobacco products in the Wo\u0142omin town area near Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Border Guard, the state treasury’s losses from non-payment of VAT and excise taxes exceeded 35 million zlotys (more than $9.4 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
