April 23, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The information ministry announced extremist content designations for the websites of the BEROC think tank, the Volnyja initiative that helps political prisoners, petitions.by<\/em> online petitions portal and media-polesye.com<\/em> local news project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other blacklisted content includes andrei_volat_pivavarevich<\/em>, alesia.mierynava<\/em>, hleb.vajkul<\/em>, dimastut<\/em>, mayamova. co<\/em>, belanarchistinpl<\/em>, jestem_tatiana<\/em> and jedrzejt<\/em> on Instagram; Alaksandar Dzianisa\u016d’s Facebook page and several other pages on Odnoklassniki, VKontakte and TikTok linked to the opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases of politically-motivated persecution documented in Belarus from April 19 to 22 included eight additions to the list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities,\u201d according to the Committee for State Security (KGB). The list now features five former police officers from the Minsk region\u2019s \u017dodzina who spoke out against police violence in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate development, Hrodna businessman Stanis\u0142a\u016d Bujnicki went on trial in early April on charges of tax evasion, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported. His company owns the building rented by the Polish consulate general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kazimir Lachnovi\u010d and Volha Sitnik, administrators of the Belarusian Wikipedia, may be under arrest as both are not responding to messages, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities sold cars of Dzianis Kire\u0161\u010danaka and Artur Ruchlevi\u010d, both known as former political prisoners, at an auction, the Pravo Imeyut<\/em> Telegram channel reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian human rights defenders declared 10 more people as political prisoners yesterday, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of April 23, human rights defenders identified at least 1,200 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Supreme Court\u2019s electronic schedule of trials and the database of court rulings remain inaccessible. Human rights groups relied on these databases to track politically motivated cases. A maintenance page has been displayed at the URL address of the Supreme Court\u2019s schedule of trials across the country for longer than a month already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
