April 25, Pozirk.<\/strong> The Belarusian Steel Works (BMZ) has reduced its output by 10 percent in an effort to maintain profitable operations, Chief Engineer Mika\u0142aj Anelkin said at a recent meeting with workers at the \u017dlobin-based plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anelkin attributed the decision to challenging logistics and less favorable trade conditions, reported the BMZ press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that the steelmaker primarily relies on scrap metal sourced within Belarus, but also purchases additional scrap from Russia despite higher costs. \u201cSanctions, the SVO [the Russian war against Ukraine], and the ban on access to the Baltic Sea\u2014all these factors are driving up transportation costs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exiled intelligence group BelPol claims that BMZ is involved in the mass production of ammunition for the Russian army. The company is currently under sanctions imposed by the EU, the US, and Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
