April 26, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus will open a consulate general in Kazan, Tatarstan, whose jurisdiction will span six constituent parts of Russia, according to an order signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consulate will deal with Tatarstan, Mari El and Chuvashia, as well as with the Kirov, Saratov and Ulyanovsk provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime minister ordered the foreign ministry to formalize the “agreement reached.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mishustin also advised the government of Tatarstan to rent out or sell premises for the Belarusian Consulate General in Kazan, or allocate land plots for their construction if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the same day, the Russian prime minister discussed with his Belarusian counterpart Alaksandar Tur\u010dyn trade and economic cooperation and integration. According to the press office of the Russian government, the premiers “stressed the importance of continuing joint projects in industry, energy, transport infrastructure, digital economy and other areas.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, the Belarusian embassy had a branch office in Kazan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, Russian diplomat Sergey Malov told journalists that the Belarusian Consulate General in Nizhny Novgorod would begin operations in June. Its opening would coincide with the Russian-Belarusian Regions Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
