May 11, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Kyiv sanctioned the Minsk-based P\u0142anar microelectronics factory, one of the leading enterprises of the Belarusian defense sector, says a document approved by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on May 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Ukrainian sanctions cover 73 other companies and 58 individuals, including one from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restrictions include blocking of assets along with a halt of trade and transit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States sanctioned P\u0142anar in 2023 with the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada following in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, the BelPol opposition group said that the factory kept buying components in the US using Asia-based companies to evade sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report described P\u0142anar as a key supplier of equipment to Russian microcircuit manufacturers and the Minsk-based Intehra\u0142 microchip factory, which \u201cactively works for the Russian military-industrial complex.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine in which the Belarusian authorities supported the Kremlin, allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions and supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
