May 19, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The number of Russians who consider Belarus the friendliest country to Russia has dropped by 8 percent since 2022 to 41 percent, according to a survey by that country’s state-run Russian Public Opinion Research Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus ranked second after China, which is seen as the friendliest by 65 percent of respondents, 10 percent more than two years ago.\u00a0India ranked third with 26 percent. North Korea also scored 26 percent, posting a spike of 22 percent since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus is Russia’s closest and most reliable ally with stable perceptions among the Russians, unlike Turkey or Kazakhstan, whose images are subject to fluctuations, the pollster noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Almost half of the respondents, 48 percent, said France was the most unfriendly country to Russia, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany with 42 and 41 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
