May 29, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Ukrainian Judo Federation (UJF) has announced that the official delegation will not participate in the 2025 World Judo Championships, which will be held in Hungary in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is because the International Judo Federation allowed Belarusian judoka to compete under their national flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UJF cited the Belarusian National Olympic Committee reporting that the IJF Executive Committee permitted Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions from June 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ukrainian judo body said it asked the IJF to confirm or deny that report. It also stressed the importance of complying with the International Olympic Committee’s guidelines on admitting athletes from aggressor countries to international contests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UJF went on to say that the IJF confirmed the Executive Committee’s decision in an official response on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this regard, the UJF “is compelled to make the decision not to send the official delegation of the Ukrainian national judo team to the World Championships” in line with the Ukrainian sports ministry’s order of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Ukrainian Judo Federation strongly condemns the decision of the International Judo Federation and considers it contrary to the fundamental principles of fairness, responsibility, and solidarity in the global sports movement,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
