May 30, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>The international community should introduce “preemptive sanctions” to counter a possible repeated aggression against Ukraine from the Belarusian territories or an attack on NATO countries, Belarusian opposition argues.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition transition cabinet led by \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and the Warsaw-based National Anti-Crisis Management prepared a joint report covering Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s preparation for a possible entry into the war on the side of Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A strategy of preventive deterrence, including sanctions, blocking logistics hubs, support for pro-democracy forces and clear international signals, is necessary to prevent a new round of aggression, including from the territory of Belarus, the report stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three years ago, as Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, the Belarusian army was not ready for combat actions, it said, noting that the situation has changed and now Minsk may be potentially prepared for entering the war on Russia\u2019s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few years, democratic countries have imposed multiple restrictions on Belarus over human rights abuses, alleged vote rigging in the 2020 presidential election, a brutal crackdown on protesters, the forced landing of a Ryanair flight, a migration crisis at the European Union border, as well as support of Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
