June 1, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> As the world is celebrating Children’s Day, the Belarusian state continues to separate children and their parents, opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In private conversations, many of you mention other difficulties faced by children today: propaganda in schools, forced donations for the regime, inclusion in the Belarusian National Youth Union and involvement in its crazy actions,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, many children in Belarus are not admitted to clubs and small groups only because their families are deemed unreliable for speaking out against injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The regime forces children to be afraid, to be silent and to sacrifice their desires for the government. The regime teaches them to be quiet, to keep their heads down and promotes the idea that ‘people at the top’ decide everything,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She called for teaching children to speak their native language and not shy away from it, teaching them real history and not fake concepts from state textbooks and explaining the meaning of tolerance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If we want children to grow up in a country without fear, with the right to a voice, let’s work together to show them that freedom and justice have an important place in our lives. Let’s teach them care for their loved ones, respect and the courage to be themselves,” Cichano\u016dskaja stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
