June 2, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The election of Karol Nawrocki as a new Polish president \u201cwill not change anything\u201d for Belarusians, Franak Via\u010dorka, the chief aide to Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland\u2019s new president knows the Belarusian situation very well and understands the importance of Belarus for Poland, the politician said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian pro-democracy forces have good relations with the ruling centrist Civic Coalition, the conservative opposition and current President Andrzej Duda, he noted, expressing hopes for productive cooperation with Nawrocki and his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish conservative Nawrocki won the presidential run-off election yesterday with 50.89 percent of votes in a narrow victory over his opponent, Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, who scored 49.11 percent.Nawrocki, of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party won the run-off yesterday with 50.89 percent of the vote, while Warsaw\u2019s liberal Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski scored 49.11 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nawrocki supports traditional Catholic and family values and is a strong supporter of Polish sovereignty within the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both presidential candidates support continued assistance for neighboring Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
