June 4, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Academics and politicians will meet in London in late June to discuss tools of pressure on the regimes in Minsk and Moscow, opposition politician Franak Via\u010dorka has told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizer, Warwick Ukraine-Belarus (WUB) Hub, has scheduled the conference \u201cUkraine, Belarus and the Complex Geopolitics of Europe\u201d for June 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is a feeling in the West that Ukraine and Belarus are perpetual problems that have no solutions. Our task is to show that there are solutions, but they will work if there is international solidarity and action,\u201d stressed Via\u010dorka, an aide to Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important that Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, will take part, along with academics from British universities and Belarusian speakers, presenting a variety of opinions from different perspectives, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Via\u010dorka, who is expected to participate in two sessions, expressed hope that the UK government will step forward to negotiate for the release of Belarusian political prisoners and help keep the Belarusian issue on the international agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
