June 5, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Latvia’s State Border Guard registered 123 irregular entry attempts from Belarus on June 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of border guards’ data, the previous peak of 130 attempts was registered on May 3. Then the figure fluctuated between 32 and 106.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of June, Latvia has prevented 256 irregular crossings from Belarus, fewer than in the first three days of May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the beginning of the year, Latvian border guards thwarted between 4,494 and 4,525 attempts, a twofold increase year on year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania prevented 37 attempts in early June and 837 since the start of January; Poland\u2014476 and 10,707, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 EU neighbors have recorded a total of 769 attempts to sneak in from Belarus in the first three days of June and 16,038 since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The migration crisis at the Belarusian-EU border has been ongoing since spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent people from Africa and Asia from traveling through Belarus to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors call the crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
