June 9, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> New sentences, additions to the \u201cterrorist lists\u201d and a property seizure were among the human rights developments reported by Belarusian media and activists on June 7\u20139.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers placed Ja\u016dhien Bodryka\u016d, from Or\u0161a (Viciebsk region), in a detention center in the regional capital, Viasna Viciebsk reported. Investigators purportedly suspected him of taking pictures of military hardware and sharing them with banned media. After the 2020 presidential election, the state prosecuted Bodryka\u016d for alleged minor offenses several times. Activists said those cases were political.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anton Taba\u0161nika\u016d, a Police Academy graduate, might have been sentences to prison for violating the requirements for protecting state secrets, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brest Regional Court reached a guilty verdict in the Rus\u0142an Sachar\u010duk trial. It appears that justices sentenced the youtuber to restricted freedom in an open-type corrective institution, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported. Prosecutors accused him of inciting hatred. Before 2008, Sachar\u010duk served in the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Committee for State Security (KGB) added 15 names to the list of people involved in \u201cterrorist activity,\u201d including fighters and commanders of the Kastu\u015b Kalino\u016dski Regiment and blogger Siarhiej Biaspa\u0142a\u016d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Investigative Committee\u2019s directorate for the Viciebsk region exercised a lien over the Or\u0161a flat of Viktar Karnijenka, a political emigrant. Officials declared him a member of \u201cextremist formations,\u201d i.e. opposition groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Viasna, wardens released Alaksandar \u0141a\u016dren\u0107je\u016d, who had served his full sentence. After his arrest in May 2022, justices sentenced him to three years and four months in prison for allegedly insulting a state servant and the head of state. Later, they sentenced him to one more year for alleged disobedience to prison authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of June 9, human rights defenders identified at least 1,188 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
