June 11, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Poland did not allow almost 200 third-country foreigners to cross irregularly from Belarus yesterday, according to Pozirk<\/em>\u2019s analysis of border guards\u2019 data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since January, Warsaw has thwarted at least 12,053 attempts, which dropped 34.3 percent year on year and 2.3 percent compared to last June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, Warsaw extended a border area entry ban at the shared border with Belarus by another 90 days, citing a 30-percent decline in irregular crossings since its introduction one year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania reported 57 attempts since the start of June and 857, since January, with attempts quadrupling year on year. Irregular crossings into Latvia totaled 4,902 since the start of 2025, growing from 134 in the first ten days of June 2024 to 664 in the same period this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flow of people desperate to get to the EU surged in spring 2021 after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka, angered by EU sanctions, had indicated that Minsk would not prevent asylum seekers from Africa and Asia from using Belarus as a route to the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, the EU thwarted at least 36,291 irregular border crossings at its shared border with Belarus after foiling 42,078 attempts in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 western neighbors call the migration crisis a \u201chybrid attack\u201d orchestrated by Minsk and Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
