June 11, Pozirk. <\/strong>The Belarusian opposition\u2019s social policy chief, Volha Zazulinskaja, has called on the European Union to finance a social support foundation for exiled Belarusians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative is designed to offer systematic assistance to those currently neglected by the Belarusian state, the politician told the Belarus-EU Consultative Group in Brussels. While acknowledging the measure\u2019s temporary nature, she stressed its urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zazulinskaja said vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, single mothers and the elderly, should be at the center of this social policy. She also mentioned political prisoners, who \u201cshould have the prospect of returning to life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation would also assist former Belarusian volunteer fighters who fought alongside Ukrainian forces, students and children in exile, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cWe don\u2019t have state resources, a state apparatus, a budget, a financial cushion and capital. So, we are turning to our partners and you personally with a call for support,\u201d she told EU officials present at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
