June 19, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Ukraine and Russia on Thursday exchanged prisoners of war. It was the fifth swap in Belarusian territory in 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the released Ukrainians included members of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service. Most of them had been in captivity since 2022, he said on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russian foreign ministry said the exchange was carried out in line with the agreements Russia and Ukraine had reached in Istanbul on June 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The released Russian soldiers are \u201creceiving the necessary psychological and medical assistance\u201d in Belarus, it said. They will be \u201ctransported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation in the defense ministry’s medical institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous exchanges in Belarus took place on June 9, 10, 12 and 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine and Russia carried out 13 swaps this year and 12 last year, reports said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine from Belarusian territory with direct backing of the regime in Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
