June 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The EU-sanctioned Bie\u0142avija will open a new long-distance route after the second Airbus A330-200 aircraft is put into operation, the airline\u2019s CEO Ihar \u010carhiniec told Belarus 1<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the company cannot perform these flights with only one operational aircraft due to maintenance checks. \u201cIt will be difficult to organize the transportation of 280 passengers without another Airbus A330-200,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are still waiting for the second plane to arrive. It is undergoing maintenance. I think it will be ready sometime in July or mid-August. From that moment on we will open a long-distance route. The first destination has already been planned. Starting September 2, [we will offer] flights to Sanya, a resort on China’s Hainan Island. Besides, we are negotiating with several countries, airports and service providers. These include Vietnam, Thailand and other countries,\u201d \u010carhiniec said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the Western sanctions, Bie\u0142avija uses original spare parts to repair the fleet, even though they cost the company several times more than before, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 6, Bie\u0142avija announced adding the first Airbus A330-200 aircraft to its fleet and said it will use it for long-distance flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
