June 25, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and her husband, prominent opposition figure Siarhiej Cichano\u016dski, released from prison four days ago, will meet Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple will also meet with Polish Foreign Minister Rados\u0142aw Sikorski, Cichano\u016dskaja said on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe continue the fight to free all political prisoners, including Andrzej Poczobut,\u201d she stressed in support of Warsaw\u2019s continuing efforts to liberate a Polish minority activist held behind bars in Belarus on charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both are expected to join a Belarusian rally near the Copernicus Monument in downtown Warsaw tomorrow evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dski and 13 other prisoners convicted in politically-motivated cases were pardoned on June 21, with some immediately taken to Lithuania. The release followed a meeting in Minsk between Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and Keith Kellogg, US President Donald Trump\u2019s special envoy for Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police arrested presidential hopeful Cichano\u016dski two months before the 2020 election, as his sharp-edged campaign was gaining momentum and threatening to sweep \u0141uka\u0161enka from power. Later, he was given a lengthy prison term. He had been held incommunicado since March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
