June 30, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has told newly appointed officials today that Belarusians should be grateful to his government that they are not fighting wars, instead of dreaming of democracy and freedom.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMany already [complain]: serfdom, serfdom… Listen, fellas, today\u2019s situation is warlike. The people should pray to this government, for it is still holding back from war somehow. You see what is going on around us. As soon as we have problems inside, they will fan them and use them against us. They are sitting around Belarus like snakes in the grass, hissing, preparing to rush in here. So let us make decisions and solve pressing issues,\u201d he said, according to his press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 24, 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime provided Russian troops with territory to attack the neighboring country in the winter and spring of 2022. Russians also shelled Ukrainian cities from Belarus for months, while Russian soldiers have been treated in Belarusian hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigative journalists reported that nearly 300 Belarusian companies are involved in producing goods for Russia\u2019s military-industrial complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
