July 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> \u015aviatas\u0142a\u016d \u0141ohin, archbishop of the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, plans to register a mission in Chernihiv (Ukraine).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAccording to the canons, we cannot open a Belarusian parish in Chernihiv, the canonical territory of the Ukrainian church. But we can open a mission, something like an embassy, and are currently working on it. We want it to be official,\u201d the priest told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the church has permanently collected aid for Belarusian combatants fighting on the side of Ukraine. \u201cWe have collected it in the US and Canada, and in the winter, we collected it here, among Ukrainians in Chernihiv,\u201d \u0141ohin reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn wintertime, with the help of Ukrainians, we collected things that are well-needed at the front: a thermal imager, a generator, gas burners, warm clothes, including knitted socks, heating belts, trench candles, and good food from local farmers, such as\u00ad meat or lard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also organized meetings with deputies and businesspeople who wanted to support Belarusians, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141ohin was born in 1964 in Chernihiv, in a family with Belarusian roots. The Orthodox priest serves in the United States. In 2020, he issued an anathema against Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
