{"id":145570,"date":"2025-07-07T12:55:51","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T09:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/145570\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"cameraman-zavadski-abducted-25-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/145570\/","title":{"rendered":"Cameraman Zavadski abducted 25 years ago"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"block-image block-image-normal\">\n\n  <img decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zavadski-naviny.by_.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zavadski-naviny.by_.jpg 500w, https:\/\/pozirk.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/zavadski-naviny.by_-315x236.jpg 315w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/>\n  <figcaption>\n  \n       <div class=\"block-image__author\">\n                <span>(naviny.by)<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n     <\/figcaption>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 7, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian cameraman D\u017amitryj Zavadski has been missing for 25 years and was last seen on the way to Minsk airport on July 7, 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was 27 years old at the time of his disappearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1994 to 1997, Zavadski worked as personal cameraman for Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka before joining Russia\u2019s <em>ORT<\/em> TV channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the spring of 1997, he was arrested and charged with illegally crossing the Belarusian-Lithuanian border while filming a report together with <em>ORT<\/em> journalist Pavie\u0142 \u0160aramiet, murdered in Kyiv in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In late 1999 and early 2000, Zavadski continued collaboration with \u0160aramiet and worked in Chechnya to shoot the Chechen Diary documentary. Early in the morning of July 7, 2000, Zavadski left home to pick up \u0160aramiet from the airport and disappeared under unclear circumstances. His car was found at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two years later, former commando Valeryj Ihnatovi\u010d and Maksim Malik were found guilty of abducting Zavadski and given life sentences at a closed-door trial.
