{"id":145990,"date":"2025-07-09T12:18:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T09:18:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/145990\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"belarus-weather-service-relying-on-russia-for-long-term-forecasts","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/145990\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus\u2019 weather service relying on Russia for long-term forecasts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 9, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection has de facto confirmed the lack of equipment for long-term forecasts at Belarus\u2019 Bie\u0142hidramiet weather service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bie\u0142hidramiet relies on data from the Russia-based North Eurasia Climate Center, which provides long-term forecasts to the Commonwealth of Independent States, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These forecasts are \u201ca complex, resource-intensive task and the efforts of various countries are combined to solve it,\u201d the state-run media report, citing the ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 193 members of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), only a dozen &nbsp;has the facilities equipped to issue long-term forecasts, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Japan, Germany, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two days ago, Bie\u0142hidramiet\u2019s Volha Bak\u0142anava made it clear that Bie\u0142hidramiet does not have a weather forecast for the second half of 2025, noting that the weather service did not have equipment and software to make such predictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After <em>Pozirk<\/em> published her comment, the ministry issued the clarification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>July 9, Pozirk.
