July 11, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Polish interior ministry has sanctioned Kazakhstan-based QARTREE LLP with links to Belarus for exporting Russian and Belarusian plywood, Poland’s National Revenue Administration (NRA) reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QARTREE LLP was founded in September 2022 by a company from Russia presumably owned by a large Belarusian manufacturer of furniture and wood, according to the NRA, which lobbied restrictions. Although unnamed, the company in question could be Pinskdre\u016d, Belarus\u2019 oldest woodworking giant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanctions include an asset freeze, a ban on direct or indirect supplies and exclusion from public procurement procedures and tenders. Individuals associated with the company could be deemed unwelcome in Poland, the report noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second half of 2024, Polish authorities granted four NRA requests for sanctions targeting Kazakh companies that helped Russia evade sanctions and export birch plywood to Poland, the agency noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three years ago, the European Union banned the import of Belarusian wood products, such as lumber, briquettes, fuel pellets, plywood and wood boards, to punish Minsk for its complicity in the Russian war against Ukraine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
